       Youth and Children's program       
   
This year the OMNI Hotel will host a Children and Youth’s Recreation Suite. Located on the lower level of the hotel, the suite will open on Day 1-Wednesday, June 28 at 3:00 pm. Check in with our groovy animators, check out the gear and the games that the room is loaded with or cozy up in the lounge area to re-acquaint yourself with old friends and make new friends. Our team of animators are also prepared to take you on a journey to the Montréal Children’s Library where you can borrow some books for your stay in Montréal.

Whooping It Up At La Ronde
Thursday, June 29, 2000 - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm


After its opening during Expo’67, when the various rides were limited, La Ronde has progressively upgraded to become one of Montréal’s major summer attractions. A short ride from the downtown core, the park features approximately 35 rides designed to appeal to the thrill-seekers as well as rides for the not-so-daring and several panoramic rides for all. In addition, the site offers the possibility of visiting a number of attractions including Fort Edmonton, Medieval Village, Enchanted Forest and many others. Each of these attractions offers its own special form of entertainment. A really great time to be had by all! Lunch will take place at one of La Ronde’s many restaurants.

iSci Centre -
Montréal’s Newest Attraction
Friday, June 30, 2000 - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm


The iSci Centre, a pier of discovery, is located at the Old Port of Montréal, where guests will find a multitude of entertaining and fascinating activities, including interactive science exhibits, high-tech innovations, as well as an IMAX 3D Theatre. Your day will begin with the Immersion Reality Theatre where you will be absorbed by the sensa-tional visuals of big screen cinema while influencing the show through interactive touch screen. Every Immersion experience is different depending on the choices the audience makes. Next you’ll experience IMAX Cinema - which presents a 45-minute film of a journey through the stages of humankind, from birth to maturity, with each scene introduced by a Cirque du Soleil act, all photographed at spectacular locations around the world. Lunch will take place at the Porto Fiorentino Restaurant, located on the second level of the iSci Centre, offering a superb view of the Old Port. Following lunch, the youth will be introduced to three exhibition halls, each with an individual theme: Life, Matter and Information. Each program includes video, demonstrations and interactive games geared for all age groups. Now that’s an interesting, educational and fun-filled day!
     Mulligan’s and Golf City - Nun’s Island
Saturday, July 1, 2000 - 4:30 to 9:30 pm


Golf - Currently noted as the most popular game in the world! This is your chance to give it a swing! Located only ten minutes from the heart of downtown Montréal, Golf Cité is a totally unique golf practice complex located on the edge of Nun’s Island with a magnificent view of the St. Lawrence River. Offering a unique practice center for all aspects of golf games, in an environment virtually identical to the real game. A seriously exciting 18-hole mini golf tournament that includes endless challenges around cascades, fountains and riverbeds has been arranged. You and your team will swing, putt and chip your way to victory. For the serious golfer, we have arranged group golf lessons where some personal atten-tion is sure to improve your game. For the younger and less serious golfer an interesting game of frisbee golf is lined up. Dinner will be hosted on-site at the Mulligan Restaurant which includes a terrace with a breathtaking view of the river and the Montréal skyline.

There are no CDA planned activities for today as Montréal is alive with celebration and festivities for all ages. Start your day with the breathtaking Canada Day Parade. Travel by Metro, Montréal’s rapid transit system, to continue to celebrate Canada Day at the Old Port of Montréal. An exciting, diversified and multi-cultural program, including family activities, a variety of workshops and themed exhibits are all yours to enjoy. You may also choose to experience the internationally acclaimed Montréal Jazz Festival. Versatile jazz repertoires, street performers and endless entertainment keep Montréal streets alive and well worth exploring. We will have plenty of information on hand at the CDA registration desk and would be happy to help you plan your day.

Parents, please be advised -
Upon confirmation of your child’s program attendance, you will be required to sign a waiver releasing the CDA and its appointed agents from responsibility for your child while attending any conference events and Child and Youth Program activities.
