           Abstract Preparation Guidelines (1118 bytes)

  • Mail a hard copy of the complete abstract along with a copy on diskette. Microsoft Word format is preferred. If you are using another word processing package, please save or export the abstract as a Rich Text Format (RTF) file if possible. Abstracts will NOT be accepted via facsimile.
  • Type the abstract single-spaced (making sure the lines are not too close together) and left-justified.
  • Use no less than 10 and no more than 12 point type. Do not use script or italicized type. If you have the choice, please use the font Times Roman. Please keep abstract and all author information to one page (letter or A4 size) maximum, with minimum one inch margins on all sides.
  • Use arabic numerals for all numbers except at the beginning of a sentence, where they should be written out.
  • Computer generated simple tables and graphs may be included, but must fit on the one page allotted.
  • Please indicate the following information on the diskette label: presenting author's last name, type of word processing program, number of abstracts on disk.
  • Each lecture and poster should include an Introduction, Materials and Methods, and Conclusions (no bold headings).
  • Each Case Presentation must include:SAMPLE ABSTRACT FORMAT (8659 bytes)
    • Brief History
    • Clinical Photographs
    • Photomicrograph(s)
    • +/- scanning electron microscopic findings or amino acid/sulphur analysis of hair
    • Other data pertinent to conclusion
    • Differential diagnosis & conclusion
  • The presenting author's name should be typed in full and underlined, last name first, with full address, e-mail, telephone and fax. List the presenting author's name first. Other authors' names should be typed in full, last name first, followed by city, state/province, and country. Do not include degrees, addresses, or codes.
  • type the TITLE of the abstract in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  • Please proofread the typed abstract carefully, as no changes or substitutions will be accepted later.
  • Indicate your preference for a lecture, case or poster presentation. Note that the Program Committee will make the final allocation if accepted.
  • Please ensure that the presenting author's e-mail address is included on the hard copy as we will be advising authors via e-mail. If an e-mail address is not available, please ensure that a complete mailing address is given.
  • When mailing, use protective cardboard backing.
