Answer and Commentary _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Although most practitioners are used to associating pitting of the nails with psoriasis, onycholysis is less well known. If psoriasis is responsible for the onycholysis, it is frequently associated with an erythematous band just proximal to the nail plate separation. In the above patient a small localized area of erythema is also seen in the nail bed away from the area of separation. This may appear dirty, brown, red in color or salmon pink.
